Ukraine has reported cyber attacks against web pages of Armed forcesthe Ministry of Defence and against several state banks, the Privatbank and the Oschadbank. This has been made known by the Center for Information Security, who has not detailed who could be behind the attack, although it has pointed to Russia.
The hackers have managed to bring down the internet sites that have been affected and have blocked the applications of the banks as well as some ATMs.
“It is possible that the aggressor has resorted to dirty fighting tactics when seeing their aggressive plans fail“, has indicated the Center for Information Security in a statement in which it mentions the entities affected by the cyberattack.
Ukrainian government websites already suffered a massive cyberattack in January, amid heightened tensions with Russia that has concentrated more than 100,000 soldiers near the Ukrainian border. On that occasion, Kiev said it saw “some signs” of hacker involvement associated with Russia in the cyber attack, which affected the work of more than 70 government websites, including those of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
