Kiss, Amorcito or Pasión are some names of Peruvians inspired by Valentine’s Day, according to a list published this Monday by the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status of Peru, (Reniec) on the occasion of the celebration of this party.
Valentina is the most common romantic name in Peru, where there are 162,723 women who are called that way compared to 55,899 Valentinos, Reniec reported on this increasingly celebrated date and that this year it plans to move 250 million soles (about 60 million euros) in the Andean country.
In Peru there are thousands of people called Cielo, Amador, Amado, Amadaand there are also many citizens with the most romantic literary names par excellence, Romeo and Juliet.
The count shows that there are people who are called Kiss, I love you, Galán, Caress, Husband and Affectionate, and Kiss or Heart (Kiss or Heart, in English) also enter the list along with other names that are at least curious such as Jealousy or Cariñosa.
“Love is present in our lives, in our way of being, in everything we do and say. This feeling is also an inspiration for the names of some Peruvians,” Reniec said in the note.
The third wave of the covid-19 pandemic seems to be giving Peru a truce, which is why the country’s authorities have relaxed the restrictions in recent days, allowing lovers to enjoy celebrations without a curfew and an expansion of the capacity in restaurants or shopping centers.
A study by Impronta Research estimated that on this Valentine’s Day Peruvians will spend an average of 327 soles (about 75 euros), which represents an increase of 49% compared to last year and a figure similar to when there was no pandemic, according to reported the RPP medium. (I)
