The United States moves its embassy in Ukraine to the west of the country to move it away from Russia for “security”

This measure has been ordered out of “prudence” and to ensure “the safety of its personnel” diplomat in the nation, as confirmed by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in a statement.

“We are in the process of temporarily relocating our embassy operations from Kiev to Lviv, due to the drastic acceleration in the increase of Russian troops (on the Ukrainian border),” Blinken said. “As soon as conditions allow,” he reported, the staff will be returned to the embassy (in Kiev).

The decision comes two days after the US ordered non-essential personnel out of Ukraine of its embassy and the suspension of the consular services of that diplomatic legation. Furthermore, according to ‘The Wall Street Journal’, the State Department ordered the destruction of computers and other equipment to connect to networks of the embassy in the Ukrainian capital, in addition to the decommissioning of the mission’s telephone system.

As confirmed by the aforementioned newspaper, the confidential materials kept at the embassy they arrived this Sunday at the Dulles airport (Virginia), on the outskirts of Washington, along with 56 workers from the diplomatic mission.

The Pentagon has noted that Russia has not yet made a final decision on whether or not to attack Ukrainedespite reports that the attack could take place this week.

The head of US diplomacy has also stressed that US citizens who remain in Ukraine they should “leave the country immediately”three days after the White House begged them to do so within a maximum period of 48 hours.
