Boris Johnson calls Ukraine crisis ‘very dangerous’

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday called the Ukrainian crisis “very, very dangerous” and called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to step back from the “edge of a precipice.”

In a statement to the media during a visit to Scotland, Johnson said the “evidence is pretty clear” that Russia is preparing an invasion of Ukraine from the number of military deployed on the border, showing that “there is preparation”.

“This is a very, very dangerous, difficult situation. We are on the edge of a precipice but there is still time for President Putin to take a step back,” stressed the head of government.

Johnson was in favor of dialogue and urged Russia to avoid an invasion that could be “disastrous”, but stressed that it is important for the West to be strong and maintain unity.

He added that he will do “everything possible” to support the diplomatic path and that he will speak with several leaders, including US President Joe Biden, without saying when.

“I think it’s very important that we all come together and show a united front, particularly when it comes to economic sanctions,” added Johnson, whose government has already anticipated the imposition of sanctions in the event of a military incursion.

The United States recently anticipated that everything indicates that Russia may decide to invade Ukraine at any time. (I)
