The French president has spoken with his counterparts in Russia and Ukraine in his attempt to continue with the diplomatic path for a de-escalation in the Ukrainian crisis.
The French President, Emmanuel Macron, spoke yesterday separately with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, respectively, the possibilities of continuing with the diplomatic route to try to lower the tensions in the Ukrainian crisis.
Two issues capitalized on the talks. On one side, talked about the recent advances of the Normandy Format (composed of France, Germany, Ukraine and Russia) in order to achieve a solution to the Donbas conflict.
On the other hand, they launched a discussion to achieve “a strategic balance in Europe” that allows a reduction of risks and guarantees the security of the continent.
The Ukrainian leader has posted on his Twitter profile that they agreed on “further joint steps to maintain Ukraine’s stability and improve financial and economic cooperation.”
Russia, for its part, has conveyed that it was a “substantive dialogue with the aim of developing long-term legal guarantees to guarantee Russia’s security”, adding that both would have exchanged opinions on the current state of the situation.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have reported that Ukraine does not plan, at the moment, military operations in Donetsk and Lugansk or on the Crimean Peninsula.
