More than a hundred members of the German Church publicly declare themselves LGTBI and demand an end to discrimination

Until 125 employees of the Catholic Church from Germany, including priests, teachers and administrators, have publicly declared themselves LGBTIQ+ and demanded an end to discrimination against the group within the framework of the #OutInChurch initiative.

A movement that advocates “a Church without fear” so that they can live and work openly as LGBTIQ+ people in the Church. Thus, they demand that the labor legislation of the Church be modified to that sexual orientation and gender identity cease to be grounds for dismissal.

They also ask that remove “defamatory statements about gender and sexuality” from church teaching and defend “full access to all fields of activity and occupation in the Church without discrimination.”

They further claim that the “outdated statements of Church doctrine“on sexuality and gender should be revised “on the basis of theological and human-scientific findings.”

At the same time, #OutInChurch calls on all LGBTIQ+ people who work full-time or voluntarily for the Catholic Church to join the initiative and urges bishops to publicly declare their support for it.
