Davos Forum will hold a face-to-face meeting from May 22 to 26

The World Economic Forum (WEF) convened a face-to-face meeting from May 22 to 26 in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began. COVID-19, organizers reported.

“After all the virtual meetings held in the last two years, political, business and civil society leaders have finally agreed to meet in person again,” WEF chief Klaus Schwab said in a statement.

“We must establish the atmosphere of trust that is really needed to accelerate collaborative action and address the many challenges we face,” he added.

The meeting, to be called “Working Together, Restore Confidence”, will offer leaders an opportunity to take stock of the state of the world and shape policies for the crucial period ahead, the WEF said.

“On the agenda is the recovery of the pandemic, fighting climate change, building a better future for jobs, accelerating stakeholder capitalism, and harnessing the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution,” he noted.

This week, the WEF hosted a series of online roundtables in which world and business leaders shared their views on the global economic outlook.

The Geneva-based organization said it would be in close communication with the Swiss government on the COVID-19 situation in the Alpine nation.

“The meeting will be held as long as all the necessary conditions are in place to guarantee the health and safety of its participants and the host community,” the WEF said.
