US Secretary of Health: “COVID-19 is now almost a pandemic of the unvaccinated”

Secretary of Health of U.S, Xavier Becerra, stressed that the advances in the administration of vaccines against him COVID-19 in the country they have allowed this to be “almost a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

He assured that the US president, Joe Biden, is fulfilling his promises to end the pandemic when he has just completed his first year in the White House.

“It is almost a pandemic of those without a vaccine. You have a 20 times higher risk of dying if you don’t have a vaccine. If you don’t have the vaccine, you risk your health, a visit to the hospital, even death,” he warned.

For this reason, he appealed against people who are spreading “false information” about vaccines, an element on which the White House is working.

He acknowledged, in this sense, that progress is not being made as quickly as expected, since the percentage of the population fully vaccinated is 63% in the United States, below the levels recorded in Europe, where the figure exceeds 80 %.

“When (Biden) took office less than 1% were vaccinated, now there are more than 200 million people with two doses of the vaccine. From where we started, to where we are, we have progressed,” he said.

Becerra also stressed that “these people have not had to pay a penny,” which has especially favored minorities such as the Latin American in the United States.

He also highlighted the shipment in the coming days at no cost of millions of home tests to homes and the delivery of N95-type masks in various locations throughout the country by the Biden Administration.

The United States is the country most affected by the pandemic with more than 69 million cases of COVID-19 and more than 860,000 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University; while the advance of ómicron has triggered the pressure on hospitals.
