Fitur 2022: How to get to know half the world before touring it

After the hustle and bustle of three days of professional activities, the public will be able to discover this weekend the most varied offer of vacations and leisure from the hundred participating countries in the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur), from historical routes to how and where to celebrate a dream wedding.

With Costa Rica as a partner country, this year the fair recovered much of the hustle and bustle of the editions prior to the pandemic, although with preventive measures due to the COVID-19.

Each country, each region, each city… Everyone does the rest to attract tourists and reactivate the sector, an important economic engine hit hard around the world by the health crisis.

Fitur 2022, inaugurated last Wednesday, means that the “tourism sector is alive”, a message that Spain transmits to the world, recently valued the Costa Rican minister, Gustavo Alvarado.

And in this fair, one of the most important in the world, everything counts to capture the indecisive traveler: the attractions themselves and the biosafety (now highly demanded) of the destinations and how they are presented and informed about them, since the tourist market transforms and becomes more competitive, if possible, in post-covid times.

Thus, visitors will be able to enjoy at Fitur some facilities that try to reproduce local landscapes and environments, audiovisuals and very well edited brochures, live shows, costumes and typical celebrations and take away some souvenir related to nature, crafts, culture or the work of the people of each place.

Latin America: tradition and innovation

In search of the European tourist, colour, precisely, is one of the hallmarks of the Latin American countries at this fair, where they present themselves with a renewed offer, which combines traditional destinations and other emerging, innovative, open-air, little-crowded ones , nature, beach, adventure and contact with rural traditions.

One more year, Fitur is also a destination for those who share their trips and experiences on social networks. On this occasion, Colombia has opted for an attractive open, sensory design with an architecture based on the Dubai Expo, as explained by ProColombia.

The visitor will be able to be photographed with the protagonist of the latest Disney movie, “Encanto”, set in the country, compose their own vallenato, dance salsa and meet the champion of the “silleteros” or floral artists, to finish with a freshly brewed coffee. .

Among the Spanish exhibitors, culture and history are safe bets, such as the 125th anniversary of the discovery of the pre-Roman bust of the Lady of Elche, the first national museum of the Tercios (famous military corps of the 16th and 17th centuries) and the recreation of the ship Victoria, the only one that completed the first Circumnavigation, in 1522, after the expedition to the Spice.

Asia: game and sport

The tradition-modernity dichotomy is a constant at the fair, especially among Asian exhibitors, who exploit their most popular assets at Fitur.

This is the case of Korea, which takes advantage of the success of “The Squid Game” and invites the public to participate in traditional games such as “ddackji” or “dalgona” -yes, in its conventional format, without risk-; for these days there are planned exhibitions of martial arts and “k-pop”, which is sweeping among young people.

With a poster of “Old meets new” -or “the old meets the new”-, Tokyo greets the visitor who is interested in Japan.

The Winter Olympics in Beijing, starting on February 4, permeate the spirit of China, adorned for the occasion with the Olympic rings and its mascot, the panda Bing Dwen Dwen, whose name, in Mandarin, symbolizes purity and strength, essential values in competition.

About 5,400 kilometers separate Madrid from the Wailing Wall, in Jerusalem; however, Israel gives the public the opportunity to make their wish at the mythical “kotel”.

From getting married in a palace to looking at the stars

After going to Fitur, visitors will know something that, very surely, few knew: Saint Petersburg is the Russian capital of weddings. The reason? In 1959, in the middle of the Soviet era, when the city was still called Leningrad, it had the first palace to celebrate marriages in the dependencies of the cousin of Tsar Nicholas II.

In addition, the city is this year the venue for the final of the European Football Champions League, on May 28. Meanwhile, the public will be able to take a photo with the competition cup or “shoot” at the goal thanks to virtual glasses.

Fitur also allows you to get to know the network of Magical Towns in Spain or to prepare for astronomical tourism in the points of clear skies in the region of Castilla-La Mancha (center).
