China’s Family Education Bill Urges Preventing Feminization of Boys

The points of the draft law have perplexed the guardians of minors.

Education must begin at home and bad citizens would be a reflection of the flaws in the system of discipline and respect taught at home. Therefore, China’s parliament will consider legislation to punish the parents of children with “misbehavior”.

China studies law to punish parents for their children’s misbehavior

The early childhood education promotion bill is still in draft status, but proposes the following:

  • The admonition of the guardians in the event that the prosecutors determine erroneous or criminal conduct in minors.
  • It will demand intrafamily orientation courses, in the event that prosecutors determine wrongful or criminal behavior in minors.
  • Promote traditional, socialist and nationalist values within educational institutions
  • Encourage leisure, sports and recreational activities without excesses
  • Parents will be encouraged to adjust their time for various of their children’s daily activities, including rest, play, and exercise.
  • Limit the use of video games, consoles and more by minors
  • Proposal to prevent the feminization of male adolescents through the media content consumed by the population
  • Finally, it prohibits parents from using “violence” to educate children on how to behave.

The theme of leisure is not a new problem, in fact, in August of this year, the Ministry of Education of the Asian country has limited gaming hours for minors, allowing them to play video games for one hour only on certain days: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Another issue to be addressed in the project is to reduce the feminization of men in some activities. Chinese President Xi Jinping urges young Chinese to be less “feminine” and more “manly” and thus, on national television, broadcasts of programs, series and more, inspired by Japanese and South Korean pop culture and, above all, music stars with too feminine appearance have disappeared.

The draft will be reviewed this week, in the session of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. (I)
