The approval of the use of the vaccine passport is delayed in France

The Republicans and the opposition have voted in favor of not continuing this past night with the discussions on the passport and have caused that the anticipated schedule of application is now in the air.

The French Government spokesman, Gabriel Attal, denounced this Tuesday the irresponsibility of the opposition deputies for suspending last night the planned vote on the vaccine passport, a measure that is presented as the main tool against the expansion of positives by the omicron variant. Now, the planned implementation schedule is up in the air.

During the presentation of the bill this Monday, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, told the deputies that the night would be long. The more than 650 amendments to the text had to be analyzed overnight in view of their approval for it to go to the Senate this Wednesday and that there will be a few days of margin for its review by the State Council and its entry into force on January 15 .

But after midnight, and when the macronista group, the majority, had made calculations of how many deputies would be necessary to continue with the vote, a group of Los Republicanos arrived at the hemicycle and joined the show of hands with the rest of the opposition so that the discussions did not continue at night.

“Of the National Grouping and the Insubordinate France it is habitual. For the Republicans I believe that it is a way to hide the great internal turbulence that there is on this bill”, commented Attal in France Inter.

The socialist Anne Hidalgo, candidate for the presidential election in April, claimed to be in favor of the approval of a vaccination passport but criticized the government’s forms and claimed that “time” is needed to discuss in Parliament with all political forces.
