A New York court has dismissed the appeal filed Tuesday by the Prince Andrew of England to challenge the sexual assault charge that weighs against him, relying on the fact that the alleged victim, Virginia Giuffre, does not reside permanently in the United States and therefore the New York court where the case resides has no jurisdiction. Giuffre has denounced Andrés for an alleged sexual assault when he was a teenager.
Judge Lewis Kaplan has rejected the request on the grounds that Giuffre’s lawyers have received “on at least one occasion a comprehensive request for documentation relating to his address and his response is expected and is committed to the January 14“reports the American press.
Kaplan argues his decision “without determining the certainty or lack of certainty” of the assertion by Giuffree’s legal team that Andres ‘attorneys’ recourse was “a transparent attempt to delay submission of documentation and testify“.
Giuffre would be one of the many victims of a network of exploitation of minors led by the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, arrested in July 2019 on charges of sexual abuse and trafficking of dozens of girls in the early 2000s.
This millionaire, who came to rub shoulders with personalities such as former presidents of the United States Bill Clinton y Donald Trump, was discovered hanged in his New York prison cell a month later.
In addition to the alleged participation of Prince Andrew, whose first hearing in this case is scheduled for January 4, 2020, Epstein’s main collaborator, the British celebrity, has already been found guilty. Ghislaine Maxwell, who “prepared” dozens of minors for these sexual assaults, including Giuffre herself.
