The president of the United States, Donald Trumpsaid the 2026 World Cup – to be played in its country, Canada and Mexico – will be “more exciting” in the middle of the Commercial and tariff war.
During his meeting with the FIFA Chief, Gianni Infantino, the president said that commercial tensions affect the football contest.
“The tension is good (…) makes it much more exciting,” Trump said.
It is worth adding that a decree was signed this Friday to create a 2026 World Cup working group that will head Trump, in order to plan “the largest sporting event in history.”
For its part, Infantino said the 2026 World Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States will create 200,000 jobs and move US $ 40,000 million. He estimated that the 2026 World Cup is equivalent to organizing three NFL Super Bowls per day for a month.
“It is important that everyone who comes to the United States feels safe, welcome, and that is why it is important that the government believes this White House working group,” said FIFA’s mandamás.
