Insults as official Milei policy: catalogs as “idiots”, “fools” and “mental weak” to people with disabilities

“Idiots”, “fools” and “mental weak”. This is how, from now on, Javier Milei’s government will qualify the people with disabilities in Argentina. This offensive terminology appears in an official document of the National Disability Agencygenerating a strong controversy.

The insults, common in the speech of the Argentine president – who has addressed both the Pope and different economists – have now become Official Policy.

The controversy broke out with the publication of the Resolution 187/2025which establishes the criteria for the review and distribution of Non -contributory pensions for people with disability. In the annex of this document, the agency led by Diego Spagnuolo classifies people with disabilities under the terms “fool”, “idiot” or “weak mental” based on their intellectual coefficient.

The classification, which evokes archaic and deeply discriminatory language, divides people with intellectual disabilities into three categories according to their CI:

  • 0-30 (idiot). It does not cross the glyós stage, does not read or write, does not know the money, does not control sphincters, does not meet their basic needs, cannot subsist alone.
  • 30-50 (fool). Do not read or write, meet your elementary needs, you can perform rudimentary tasks.
  • 50-60 (deep mental weak). Only sign, has simple vocabulary, does not handle money, can perform rudimentary tasks.

These new regulations that include vexatious terms have quickly had Complaints From various associations because they violate the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability, they put their fundamental rights at serious risk and ask that they be urgently repealed.

In addition, the Milei government has not taken into account the opinion of people with disabilities or their organizations to write it, something that It is mandatory by law.
