Lasxta accompanies a Ukrainian unit formed only by prisoners: “I didn’t want to continue in jail and decided to go to war”

The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is getting closer. This is what the Foreign Affairs of the Duma has confirmed today. This meeting between the leaders of both powers could take place this month or at the latest in March. Volodimir Zelenski, meanwhile, has assured that Kyiv has intensified his contacts with Washington.

And while that peace comes, on the front, Ukraine adds troops from jail. One in nine Ukrainian prisoners have been recruited to fight against Russian troops. Those who are convicted of terrorism or who have killed more than two people are discarded. LaSexta has been with a unit formed only by prisoners.

More than tanks or new defensive systems right now what most needs Ukraine is infantry men, men who are in the trenches. That is why Ukraine, in the absence of personnel, has decided to go to prisons to renew their army. To do this, those selected are being trained by teams so that they are prepared to go to the front.

What the prisoners themselves are counted on is that they have chosen that path because on the front at least they have some freedom: “I did not want to continue in jail for what was happening in Ukraine and decided to go to war, I am also A Ukrainian citizen. ” In fact, one of the lieutenants explains that “They begin their life again” and “that their past is past.”
