With the presence of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of ChinaHua Chunying, started this Monday in Montevideo the VII Meeting of the Dialogue Mechanism Mercosur–China.
The meeting began at around 4:15 p.m. local time (7:15 p.m. GMT), minutes after Hua Chunying arrived at the Mercosur Building, located on the coast of the Uruguayan capital, where she was received by the South American country’s vice foreign minister, Nicolás Albertoni.
There he met with authorities from the four member states of the bloc: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
Meanwhile, Uruguayan Foreign Minister Omar Paganini was present at the first few minutes of the meeting and then left.
According to the announcement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay in a statement on Friday, the new instance of the aforementioned Dialogue was “one of the main priorities defined by Uruguay for its period as pro tempore president of Mercosur.”
This began on July 8 and will continue until the end of this year.
“We understand that an instance of dialogue with the second largest economy in the world and one of the main commercial partners in the region must allow the identification of instruments that tangibly improve our commercial integration with that country,” Paganini said during the Common Market Council Meeting, held on July 7.
