The magic of La Guajira paraded down a historic 120-meter catwalk, located on a road corridor Medellin which served as a stage to present a democratic fashion proposal and take the 35th edition of the fair to another level Fashion Colombia.
The Eastern Tunnel, which connects the Aburrá Valley with the East of the department of Antiochwas suitable for men and women to parade the more than 70 garments that make up the ‘Guajira’ collection, by the designer Andres Otalora.
“It is an expedition to feel like we are in La Guajira, but in a tunnel. It is something magical, an incredible sensation. I wanted people to feel like they were on a journey, in that desert with inspired music,” Otálora told EFE.
In front of some 1,200 guests and on an impressive catwalk, the models walked among sand and cacti to celebrate the desert department of La Guajira, one of the poorest in Colombia and where children die from malnutrition, despite its geographical exuberance and powerful indigenous culture.
Collection nourished with the Wayúu culture
Inspired by the arid part of the desert, present in warm colors, as well as in vegetation, the sea and the sky, the renowned designer, who has been exporting his fashion proposal for six years, gave life to 170 pieces that will be in 60 stores so that “many Colombians can have an Andrés Otálora in their homes.”
“This is a very extensive collection. It is the largest collection of Arkitect designers,” said the creator of ‘Guajira’, in which the wayuu culture and the prints.
In the tunnel, fitted with a lighting system, all kinds of creations passed down the catwalk, from shorts, jeans, jumpsuits, tops and blouses, to skirts and dresses in all lengths, with the Andrés Otálora seal, present in the stylized silhouettes full of femininity, as well as the prints full of vibrant colors and much more.
To converse with the democratic proposal of Arkitectone of the main brands of Moda Éxito, included a segment dedicated to men’s clothing, something new for the designer, who has reached America, Oceania, Africa, Asia and Europe with his creations.
After presenting this striking project, which they worked on for more than three months, Otálora hopes that “people will remember it” because “I don’t know if anyone will do it again in a tunnel.”

For the second day, among the most striking catwalks is ‘Women changing fashion’which brings together seven brands headed by female entrepreneurs; the highlight is the Colombian designer Beatriz Camacho with the collection ‘And I woke up in Havana’, in collaboration with the Bronzini brand, in addition ‘The Cosmic Tree’the proposal of the AGYBO brand, created almost five years ago by singers Fonseca and Juanes under the concepts of love, gratitude and good vibes.
