The CEO of de TeslaElon Musk announced on Tuesday that the company’s investment in Mexico is suspended at least until the presidential elections in the United States.
“I think we have to see what happens with the election. Trump has said he will put tariffs on vehicles produced in Mexico. So it doesn’t make sense to invest a lot in Mexico if that’s going to happen,” Musk said during a conference call with analysts and media.
Tesla had previously announced the construction of an assembly plant in Mexico to produce cars starting in 2026.

Approximately one year ago Elon Musk announced the construction of said plant, even President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed the news.
However, the continuity of the project was already questioned at the beginning of the year.
