The European Commission will Imposing 36% ‘anti-damping’ tariffs on biodiesel from China. A step in the right direction according to the sector to limit the arrival of this biofuel, which comes from, among other things, used cooking oil of dubious origin.

In Europe, 60% of imports of this biodiesel come from China while in Spain this figure is higher: 80% of everything we import comes from the Asian country.

The investigation is scheduled to continue until February, when Final tariffs could be set for five years. The EU has already imposed provisional tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles over what it sees as unfair subsidies in its most prominent case.

For biodiesel, The proposed tariffs are 12.8% for EcoCeres Group products36.4% for Jiaao Group, including Zhejiang Jiaao Enproenergy Co 603822.SS , and 25.4% for Zhuoyue Group exports, including Longyan Zhuoyue New Energy Co 688196.SS.

The European Biodiesel Bureau (EBB), which filed the complaint, told Earlier this month a flood of biodiesel from China was having a devastating effect on EU production.
