It concerns Małaszewicze (Terespol commune, Biała Podlaska district) in Lublin province. According to the decision to introduce very detailed controls in a large customs terminal on the border with Belarus is to be an “exceptionally painful move towards Minsk”.
Tighter controls on the border with Belarus? This applies to goods entering Poland
According to unofficial findings of the radio station, thorough checks are to apply to goods entering Poland. “The aim is to prevent dangerous objects and substances from entering the European Union,” we read.
RMF FM also reports that a few days ago, a signal was sent to Minsk through diplomatic channels that “we will no longer tolerate migration pressure on our border”, as well as the detention of Polish journalist and social activist Andrzej Poczobut. However, Belarus has not yet provided “any satisfactory answer” on this matter.
Małaszewicze is a key transit point for cargo flowing from the east to the west.
In Małaszewicze there is one of the largest in Poland and Europe, the so-called dry PKP transshipment port of international importance. The town is located nine kilometers from the Polish-Belarusian border. A significant part of transport from the east flows through the local port to the west, including the main land supplies from China. They go by rail to the port in Gdańsk and to the countries of the European Union. “This transit is a significant source of income for the Belarusian regime. Its restriction may cause many consequences,” adds RMF FM.
