Grenadilla Bush It is a town in Cáceres with 1,800 inhabitants.which are included in the so-called ’empty Spain’. There, three brothers decided to return to set up a restaurant that now has a Michelin star. Versátil is one of the two restaurants that have this gastronomic category in Extremadura. With this project, the three brothers have managed to make economic engine for a town which now sees business opportunities growing.

José Hernández, one of the three brothers, tells laSexta that they were clear that they wanted the restaurant to be in their town, and in 2021 the long-awaited star arrived. The main video that accompanies this news captures the unforgettable moment for the brothers.

The restaurant has given “life to the town,” as Hernández says. And Versátil has given the town a boost, since the increase in visitors has led to benefits for other businesses in the municipality.

The tenacity and effort of these three brothers have been key to the success of this place, although the help of European funds was also important for its promotion: “Without this aid, many would not consider doing other things,” says the owner of Versatil . Precisely, the European Parliament, which grants these funds, asks for more attention to be given to depopulated territories like this one.

The restaurant has been so successful that the brothers have been offered to move the restaurant. However, they are not considering doing so at the moment. Not in vain, a sign in the restaurant reads: “We are from the village,” which implies that Zarza de Granadilla will continue to have its ‘Versatile’.
