The president of Bolivia complaint of “irregular movements” of the Army. Furthermore, the elected president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has pointed out that “the uprising of some units of the Bolivian Armed Forces is an attack against democracy” and that “we strongly condemn these events.” His Paraguayan counterpart, Santiago Peña, has expressed the following for X: “Paraguay condemns the irregular mobilizations of the Bolivian Army denounced by the president @LuchoXBolivia”.
The Colombian Government has repudiated the recent events in Bolivia. “The Government of the Republic of Colombia strongly repudiates the actions of some units of the Army of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in the vicinity of the Government Palace in the city of La Paz, whichthat threaten the breakdown of the constitutional order in that country and directly attack democracy and stability in the region“, the Colombian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, in which they do not speak of a “coup d’état.”
Brazil has also joined the codenas, expressing through X that its “commitment to the full validity of democracy in the region” and pointed out that the deployment of troops in the presidential palace in La Paz is “incompatible” with the international obligations of Bolivia.
Gabriel Boric, president of Chile, has been blunt through X expressing his “concern” about the attempted coup by a sector of the Bolivian Army against the Government of Luis Arce, after a tank forcibly entered the headquarters of the Executive in the city of La Paz this Wednesday. “We express our support for democracy in our brother country and for the legitimate government of Luis Arce. “We strongly condemn the unacceptable action of force by a sector of that country’s army,” he denounced.
In the case of the United States, it has urged “calm and moderation”but did not use the designation “coup d’état” that the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, has used. “The United States is closely monitoring the situation in Bolivia and urges calm and moderation,” said the White House representative.
