Active forest fires in five Argentine provinces

At the moment, no deaths or injuries have been reported, and no evacuees have been reported.

The fight against sources of forest fires continues this Sunday in five provinces of Argentina, a fight that has been going on for almost a month, amid high temperatures and droughts, the Ministry of the Environment reported this Sunday.

At the moment, no deaths or injuries have been reported, and no evacuees have been reported.

The last weeks of southern spring and the first days of summer maintain adverse weather conditions, such as “heat, changing winds and drought,” according to the statement.

The southern Rio Negro, Chubut and Neuquén, the northern Misiones and Entre Ríos, to the center-east, “are the five provinces that register active sources” of fire.

The areas most affected since the beginning of December are in southern Patagonia, where the llamas have consumed thousands of hectares of native forest, including the valuable araucaria species.

Fire and smoke can be seen in forests not far from tourist centers such as Lake Aluminé, Lake Nahuel Huapi and the city of Bariloche, neighbors of the Andes Mountains, about 1,600 km southwest of Buenos Aires.

Instead, “the outbreaks were controlled in the provinces of Buenos Aires (center-east), Santa Fe (center-east) and Tierra del Fuego (extreme south),” the report stated.

The brigade members and firefighters work with the support of hydrant planes and helicopters from the state National Fire Management System. (I)
