Fed decision highlights this week’s economic agenda

The United States Federal Reserve makes a decision this Wednesday on interest rates, currently in the range of 5.25-5.5%, the same day that US inflation data for May is published.

These are the keys that will mark the week in America:

Monday 10

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, will give the opening speech at the apple company’s World Developers Conference, where the company’s latest developments are expected to be announced, including a greater commitment to artificial intelligence.

Tuesday 11

Tesla is holding its general meeting of shareholders in which it will decide whether to approve the payment to its CEO, Elon Musk, of compensation of around US$50 billion, among other measures.

The meeting of the members of the Federal Open Market Committee of the Federal Reserve begins to decide possible increases or decreases in interest rates.

The Government discloses Brazil’s inflation rate in May.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) publishes its monthly report on the situation of the oil market.

Argentina releases its international tourism statistics for April.

Mexico publishes industrial production data for April.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) publishes US inflation data for May, after it stood at 3.4% in April, which represents a slight decrease after a first quarter marked by increases.

The Argentine Treasury tenders public debt instruments in the domestic market.

The president of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, will ring the closing bell on Wall Street, on the occasion of the company’s centenary.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) publishes its monthly report on the oil market.

Thursday the 13th

Argentina’s inflation data for May is published.

Saturday 15

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) publishes the report on National Production for April and the report on the situation of the labor market in Metropolitan Lima between March and May 2024.
