The Francisco Duarte Astronomy Research Center (Cida) and the Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (Abae) of Venezuela They held a meeting to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation for the development of space research, the Ministry of Science and Technology reported this Friday.
Through a press release, the portfolio explained that this alliance represents an opportunity to develop new lines of research for the scientific development of the country, in areas such as the detection and study of space debris, the analysis of near-earth objects and tracking satellite orbits.
The president of Abae, Adolfo Godoy, pointed out that this agreement with Cida will also allow the sharing of resources, knowledge and technologies to guarantee a “integral approach” in each of the investigations carried out in the area and thus “position Venezuela as a reference in the region”.
“This framework cooperation agreement will not only strengthen our current research and projects, but will also open new opportunities for the development of advanced space technologies and the training of a new generation of Venezuelan scientists committed to the progress of the country”he added.
Last June, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the signing of an agreement between the ABAE and China framed in the United Nations treaty for the peaceful use of outer space, with the aim of strengthening “the ties of cooperation and brotherhood in matters of space research”.
The agreement, according to Venezuelan governmentincludes participation in China’s International Lunar Research Station (ISIL).
Godoy then assured that what was signed aims to “begin the study of new areas of space science research, as a first step towards space exploration”.
Venezuela accepted China’s invitation to join ISIL, through a program that includes the construction of this scientific exploration base at the south pole of the satellite, together with Russia.
