The Minister of the War Cabinet Benny Gantz issued an ultimatum this Saturday to the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he demands a post-war plan in three weeks with the war (June 8) and threatens to leave the coalition if it is not fulfilled. Likewise, he has demanded clear guidelines and meanwhile, thousands of Israelis have demonstrated in Tel Aviv calling for the release of the hostages and an end to the war.
Benny Gantz has demanded that Netanyahu commit to an agreed vision for the Gaza conflict that would include stipulating who could govern the territory after the war with Hamas. “The War Cabinet must draw up an action plan on the war by June 8 at the latest. You must choose, if you don’t we will leave the government“said the minister.
Gantz wants War Cabinet to form plan of six points by June 8 for Gaza, the return of the hostages, northern Israel, efforts towards normalization with the Arab States and more. He demands that before September 2, those evicted from northern Israel return to their homes due to the crossfire with Hezbollah.
If your expectations are not met, Gantz says, will withdraw his centrist party from the prime minister’s emergency government. Furthermore, this ultimatum could pressure the prime minister to call an elections, something that Israeli society also asks of him.
This threat comes after Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned Netanyahu a few days ago that he would not accept military control in a post-war Gaza. The opposition Yair Lapid, for his part, joined the dispute this Saturday and indicated on the social network
Meanwhile, in different parts of the country such as Kaplan Street, in the center of Tel Aviv, thousands of Israelis demonstrate against the Government and in favor of a truce agreement to release more than 130 hostages held in Gaza, at least thirty of them already dead.
