USA imposed this Thursday a new round of sanctions against Russian individuals and entities that it accuses of acquiring weapons from North Korea to use in the war Ukraineviolating the embargo on weapons imports from Pyongyang.
According to the State Department, the Russian Army has already used more than 40 ballistic missiles manufactured in North Korea in Ukraine, in addition to importing ammunition from that country to be able to continue fighting against the Ukrainians.
Today’s action against two Russian individuals and three entities adds to the several sanctions of this type issued by the United States in recent months to try to dismantle the military partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang.
“The deepening relationship between North Korea and Russia poses a far-reaching threat to global security and the international nonproliferation regime,” warned State Department spokesman Matthew Miller in a statement.
The spokesperson also condemned that Russia veto in the United Nations Security Council to extend the mandate of the panel of experts that documented Pyongyang’s violations of United Nations sanctions.
