A dismembered body inside a suitcase was found last night under the Paris Austerlitz Bridge, as reported this Sunday by the Prosecutor’s Office. The discovery occurred after an action by firefighters and medical services due to a garbage fire under the northern part of the bridge, on the right bank of the Seine, which occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday (8:00 p.m. GMT).
After putting out the fire, the emergency services found the body of a man inside a suitcase. several limbs were missing, while other human remainspresumably from the same person, were found in bags nearby.
The Paris Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of an investigation for voluntary manslaughter, which is in charge of the criminal brigade of the Judicial Police. The identity of the victim has not yet been determined. The Austerlitz Bridge, whose current version dates back to 1885, is located in the eastern part of the city, and connects the Botanical Garden with the area of Place Valhubert.
