Brazilian Embraer denies project to manufacture a larger plane and compete with Boeing

The Brazilian Embraerthe third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world and leader in the segment of medium aircraft for regional flights, denied this Tuesday that it intends to develop a larger aircraft with which it can compete in the market dominated by Boeing and Airbus.

The denial comes after the American newspaper Wall Street Journal reported last week that the Brazilian company planned to develop a larger plane than those it traditionally produces, with capacity for up to 150 passengers, to take advantage of the crisis caused by problems with Boeing aircraft.

The executive said that The company continues to carry out studies for new products for the futureincluding the electric vertical takeoff aircraft that it plans to launch next year, but which, at the moment, has no plans to launch a large product.

Embraer delivered 25 aircraft in the first quarter of this year, 18 executive and 7 commercial, which represents an increase of 67% compared to a year ago.

According to the financial balance disclosed this Tuesday, In the first quarter, the company obtained a net profit attributed to its shareholders of 142.7 million reais (US$ 28 million) thanks precisely to the “increase in delivery volume”.

The result contrasts with the 368.3 million reais (US$ 72.5 million) of losses recorded between January and March 2023.

The company expects to deliver between 72 and 80 commercial aircraft and between 125 and 135 executive aircraft in 2024, with a total turnover that will range between 6,000 and 6,400 million dollars.
