Milei invites investors and businessmen in the US to “bet” on Argentina

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, invited this Monday in Beverly Hills (USA.) to the entrepreneurs and financial leaders attending the 27th Global Conference, organized by the Milken Institute, to “bet” and “invest” in his country.

“Help me, you who are human progress incarnated, to make Argentina the new Rome of the 21st century, to make Argentina a land of opportunities for all those who are willing to inhabit our soil.”said the president.

Milei spoke on the first day of the annual meeting which this year has as its theme ‘Shaping a shared future’defending the capitalist model and the work carried out in his five months of Government.

In his speech of just over half an hour, the Argentine president called several times “heroes” to the attendees who attended the lunch, ensuring that their country is “a promise of prosperity.”

“Today I am here to tell you that Argentina is prepared for this enormous challenge… and has all the conditions to be the “mecca” of the West,” Milei reiterated.

He insisted that under his Government, Argentina “It will generate enormous investment opportunities for those who bet on the country”. The audience sympathetic to his speech applauded the president when he spoke about the “feats” that has been implemented in the economy.

The Argentine president attacked the Davos Forum and the “leaders of the West” by state intervention in the markets, which, in his opinion, “it brings more problems than benefits”, and the implementation of “an economic shamanism.”

“The private sector is persecuted to submit to supposed moral commandments on issues such as gender, racial issues or environmental issues, which often end up attacking the freedom and capacity of companies to generate wealth”he said in his attack.

He also had time to criticize the protests that have taken place in American universities against Israel’s war against Gaza. He said the students support terrorism and promote anti-Semitism.

The meeting, which will close next Wednesday, has the participation of important figures from the business and banking world and some official institutions such as the director of the International Monetary Fund, Krislalina Georgieva.

Before his intervention, Milei held a closed-door meeting with Michael Milken, president of the Milken Institute, where he was accompanied by the Argentine ambassador designated to the United States, Gerardo Werthein; the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the businessman Robert K. Citrone, co-founder of Discovery Capital Management and minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Milei also met with the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, who gave him a shirt marked with his surname and the number 10.

In addition, he had a meeting with the owner of the social network

In his meeting with Musk, the Argentine president was accompanied by his sister and Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, and Ambassador Werthein. In a photo released by the President’s Press Office, the Mileis and Musk are seen with their thumbs up.

This is the second time that Milei has met with Musk in less than a month, since last April the Argentine president traveled to Texas to see one of Tesla’s production plants.

This is Milei’s fifth trip abroad since he became president of Argentina on December 10, and the sixth since he was elected in the second round of the elections, held on November 19, 2023.
