The philosopher Fernando Savater will close the PP list for the European elections on June 9, as announced by the party leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, this Wednesday through his X account.

In his message, collected by Europa Press, the president of the ‘popular’ party is pleased with the signing of Savater for this symbolic position.

“He is an authoritative voice and with a biography committed to the defense of democratic values,” wrote Feijóo, who also appeals for unity.

“It is time to unite, outside and inside politics. In the streets and at the polls. For equality and freedoms,” emphasized the leader of the ‘popular’.

It was already on the UPyD lists

It is not the first time that the Basque philosopher and writer, who has participated in numerous anti-nationalist initiatives in recent years, is part of an electoral list, although now he does so in a merely symbolic position.

In the 2015 general elections, Savater ran for the Senate for Union, Progress and Democracy (UPyD), the party he promoted together with Rosa Díez, Albert Boadella and Mario Vargas Llosa, among others. The following year he tried to obtain a deputy’s certificate under the same initials, competing as number five on the Madrid list, headed by Gorka Maneiro, who is now part of the Spanish Left candidacy for the June 9 elections.

This Wednesday it was also announced that the former general secretary of Ciudadanos Adrián Vázquez will be part of the PP’s European candidacy along with the MEPs also elected at the time under the acronym of the orange party Susana Solís – who, like Vázquez, will be in the starting position – and Eva Poptcheva.

They also sign the former general secretary of Ciudadanos

The former general secretary of Ciudadanos Adrián Vázquez confirmed this Wednesday that he will run in the next European elections on June 9 on the Popular Party list, which will also include two other orange MEPs Susana Solís and Eva Poptcheva.

According to the newspaper ‘El Mundo’, Vázquez and Solís will be in starting positions, accompanying Dolors Montserrat in the top 20 places on the list, while Poptcheva will appear in the next section of the candidacy.

“At a critical moment in our democracy we must be on the side of defending the rule of law and the founding values of the Union,” Vázquez wrote in a message on the social network ‘X’, collected by Europa Press.
