“We have more than 50 projects that are being studied by companies, but we need those studies to be transformed into investment decisions. At the end of this government we seek to have between 10 and 12 projects in these conditions“, he assured Marcel at a press point after introducing the president, Gabriel Boricthe Action Plan to implement the Green Hydrogen Strategy (H2V), which will be publicly known in the coming days.
For his part, the minister of Energy, Diego Pardowpointed out that the Executive will have to “make part“to the citizens of the development of these projects, so the plan presented includes 80 measures that will be promoted until 2030”with clear people in charge and with an established calendar”.
The authority recognized that the previous Administration of the deceased former president Sebastián Piñera (2018-2022) promoted “a very successful strategy” in the matter “to capture the attention of the markets” and that the plan that will be announced aims to “put it into practice”.
With 4,200 kilometers of coastline, Chile has optimal conditions to produce green hydrogen. Its advantageous geographical position, weather conditions and competitive production of solar and wind energy necessary to obtain the resource place Chili as one of the leaders in the market of the so-called “fuel of the future”.
In June, the Government announced the creation of a fund that will allocate US$1 billion to the development of green hydrogen through private investment.
For this, Minister Marcel assured that, on the one hand, a “investment evaluation process, with limited deadlines so that they are developed within a foreseeable horizon” and, on the other hand, financial mechanisms will be offered to support these projects.
Among these, he mentioned the agreements agreed with the Production Development Corporation (Corfo) and international institutions, such as the World Bank (WB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean and the German Cooperation Agency.
