The President of the European Commission announced sanctions against Iran for the attack on Israel. Ursula von der Leyen made this announcement via video. She said that the restrictions would be discussed with EU allies and would apply to the drone and missile production program.

– Today, we, the leaders of the G7, condemned in the strongest terms Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel. Let us recall that on that night, Iran and its allied countries fired over 300 drones, rockets and cruise missiles towards Israel. Most were shot down by Israeli air defenses.

The European Union had previously imposed sanctions on Iran for aiding Russia in its invasion of Ukraine. The restrictions covered four companies involved in the production of drones that the authorities in Tehran supply to Russia, as well as Iranian military and businessmen.
