Mexico will require a visa from Peruvians who wish to enter its territory: from when?

Mexico will ask for a request visa to Peruvian citizens who wish to enter Mexican territory, according to an agreement published this Friday in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).

The provision was approved by the Minister of the Interior of Mexico, will be temporary and will come into force within 15 days, the aforementioned legal norm specifies.

Article 1 of the agreement details: “The temporary application of the visa in ordinary passports of nationals of the Republic of the Peru who intend to enter the territory of the United Mexican States, in the condition of staying as a Visitor without permission to carry out remunerated activities.”

Meanwhile, article 3 explains that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “will carry out joint actions with the government of the Republic of Peru to guarantee safe, orderly and regular migratory flows that will allow, in due course, to eliminate the requirement of visa to the nationals of said country.”

In context

In its consideration part, the rule recalls that on November 9, 2012, the Government of the United Mexican States notified the Government of the Republic of Peru of its decision to eliminate the requirement of visa in ordinary passports to Peruvian nationals, in the condition of staying as a visitor without permission to carry out remunerated activities, with effect from that date.

However, the text adds – paragraphs later – that “A substantial increase in Peruvian nationals has been identified who enter the national territory under the aforementioned decision, with the purpose of carrying out activities other than those permitted by the condition of visitor stay without permission to carry out remunerated activities.”
