Nikki Haley leaves Republican primary but does not express support for Trump

Nikki Haley announced this Wednesday that he is abandoning the Republican primaries after his poor results in the Super Tuesday event, but did not express his support for the former president donald trump (2017-2021), the only candidate left standing.

Now it is up to Donald Trump to win the votes of those inside and outside our party who did not support him. And I hope he does.” he said in a public appearance in Charleston, South Carolina.

Haley took it for granted that the New York magnate will be the Republican Party candidate for president, congratulated him and wished him “the best”but did not comply with the tradition of expressing support for the winner.

“Politics is about attracting people to your cause, not rejecting them. Our conservative cause urgently needs more people. This is the time for him (Trump) choose”, summarized.

Trump swept fourteen of the fifteen states in the country that held Republican primaries on Tuesday, while Haley could only claim victory in Vermont.

Haley’s withdrawal further paves the way for the elections on November 5 to be a repeat of the 2020 duel between Trump and the current president, Democrat Joe Biden.

Trump becomes, with Haley’s departure from the primary race, the virtual Republican nominee for president awaiting the party’s convention in July.

The former ambassador to the UN was the only woman in the Republican primaries and the only candidate still standing after Trump’s overwhelming step.

I am filled with gratitude for the great support received throughout our great country. But the time has come to suspend my campaign (…) Although I will no longer be a candidate, I will not stop using my voice for the things in which I believe.”said Haley, 52, whose parents are originally from India.

Haley has appealed in her campaign to moderate voters who do not feel represented by either Trump, 77, or Biden, 81.

But during this process, Haley has only beaten the former president in Vermont and the District of Columbia, in addition to suffering a humiliating defeat in South Carolina, her home state and of which she was governor.

Trump will probably be able to mathematically close his nomination next week, while Biden will not take long either given that he has no rivals in the Democratic Party.
