Brazilian airlines cancel their flights to Argentina due to the aviation strike

The airlines GOAL and Latam canceled all their flights from Brazil toward Argentina scheduled for this Wednesday, due to the strike carried out by the unions of the aeronautical sector in that country in demand of salary improvements.

In separate statements, GOL and Latam explained that passengers had been previously informed of the decision, which affects flights that were to go to Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Rosario.

The 24-hour strike has been called by the Ramp and Runway Aeronautical Personnel Association (APA), the Air Line Pilots Association (APLA) and the Union of Senior and Professional Personnel of Aerocommercial Companies (UPSA).

The strike was decided within the framework of salary negotiations held by the sector’s unions, which demand a replacement of the losses generated by the high inflation that affects the country.

Interannual inflation in Argentina reached 254.2% at the beginning of this year, after registering a 12.8% in November, 25.5% in December and 20.6% in January.

The strikes and mobilizations called by various unions have been a constant since, on December 10, the libertarian Javier Milei took power, who has imposed a very tough adjustment plan to face the country’s delicate economic situation.
