A new wave of US sanctions to companies that trade with Russia to deny “the resources necessary to support its brutal war against Ukraine” has generated the rejection of China. Through a press conference, Beijing affirms that they will continue to take necessary measures to firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
“We strongly oppose these unilateral sanctions. China and Russia maintain normal economic and trade cooperation, which is not directed at any other country or subject to interference from other parties“said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning.
Mao Ning affirmed that confrontation between blocs will not bring security, but maintained that objectives will continue to be maintained during this crisis.
“China, as a responsible power, will continue to play a constructive role in finding a political solution. China has maintained all this time a fair and objective position on the crisis in Ukraine”he added.
As recalled, on Friday the United States issued the largest wave of sanctions within the framework of the war in ukraine. These restrictions against half a thousand companies seek to affect the financial capacity of Vladimir Putin’s Government and retaliate for the death of the opponent Alexei Navalny.
The US sanctions involve not only Russian companies but a total of 26 companies and citizens of countries such as China, Serbia, Germany, Liechtenstein or the United Arab Emirates, which have some commercial relationship with Russia.
These measures had already been criticized by China previously, condemning that they had “no basis in any international law” and that they were not authorized by the United Nations Security Council.
