Almost a year after the magnate of tesla, Elon Muskwill confirm the construction of the assembly plant electric carsin the northern Mexican state of Nuevo León, President Samuel García assured that the project works will begin next Sunday, March 3.
During an event held this Friday, the head of the state executive spoke about the issue; However, he did not give details of the works that will be carried out, that is, whether they are carried out by state authorities or directly by Tesla.
“We will also see each other from this Sunday to the next in Terralta, because we begin the construction of (the Tesla plant)”Garcia stated.
He recalled that on a day like today but a year ago, the director of Tesla spoke to him to confirm that the company would build an assembly plant in Santa Catarina, a municipality adjacent to Monterrey, the state capital.
“And the first one I called was Nava (Jesús Nava, mayor of Santa Catarina) to tell him that we had to go to Austin (Texas) on March 1st.”he mentioned.
Tesla’s expected investment in the state is between $5 billion and $10 billion.
On March 1, 2023, after weeks of speculation, Musk himself confirmed the construction of a plant in Nuevo León.
However, last October the company reported that it would delay the construction of its assembly plant in the state of Nueva León.
Musk then linked the construction of the plant to the economic situation by stating that before starting work “Interest rates have to go down”. “We will begin the next phase of construction next year”he added.
