Ukraine faces multiplication of Russian attacks in the east and south

Ukraine This Tuesday, it faces a multiplication of Russian attacks on the eastern front and in the south, after President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of an “extremely difficult” situation for his forces, lacking sufficient ammunition.

The Russian offensives come as Ukraine marks the 10th anniversary of the deaths of dozens of protesters in kyiv during the pro-European Maidan revolution, which overthrew a pro-Russian government.

“Ten years have passed since (the beginning) of the attempts to destroy us and our independence,” Zelensky posted Tuesday on Facebook.

“But we stood our ground 10 years ago and we continue to do so today,” he added.

The Ukrainian General Staff said in its morning briefing on Tuesday that at least 84 Russian attacks were recorded in the last 24 hours, and that all of them were “repelled.”

Russian forces “are taking advantage of delays in aid to Ukraine,” the Ukrainian leader added.

The American presidentJoe Bidenassured Zelensky on Sunday that he is “confident” in the renewal of his country’s aid for Ukraine, which has been blocked by Republicans in the Lower House of Congress.

The Ukrainian military indicated on Monday that it was facing “fire against” Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhia region in the south of the country.

Ukrainian commander Oleksander Tarnavski said Moscow’s troops are launching multiple attacks, especially near the town of Robotine, one of the few places where Ukraine had managed to regain ground during its counteroffensive last summer.

The soldier assured on Telegram that the Russian army is trying to have “small assault groups, supported by armored units” advance in the area.

“Those offensive attempts were stopped, the enemy was eliminated on the outskirts of Robotine,” said Tarnavski, who commands Ukrainian forces in the region.

Reports from Russian military bloggers previously reported that Moscow forces are south of that town.
