Eight years ago, the interview that took place on Polish public television would have been unthinkable. Now, thanks to the change of Polish government, two LGTBI activistsMaja Heban and Bart Staszewski, have sat down to speak without censorship.
The presenter himself denounced live what the group has suffered in recent years: “For many years, in Polandshameful words have been directed at numerous people because they decided to determine for themselves, who they are, and who they love“.
A public complaint in which he emphasized that the LGTBIQ+ people are not an ideologybut people who deserve an apology: “All these people should listen to the words ‘I’m sorry’ somewhere.” Immediately afterwards he himself apologized to them with a “I’m sorry” public and live.
Some apologies that one of the activists highlighted as a step to heal society and restore trust after years of anti-LGBT propaganda at the hands of ultra government of Poland. A harassment and demolition against the gay ideology that even, despite the condemnation of the European Union, went so far as to declare LGTBI-free zones in different cities of the country, turning Poland into the member state with the fewest rights for the group.
Eight years of ostracism that the liberal Donald Tusk is now trying to undo at full speed. And this interview is already the first sign that In Poland things are changing.
