Rapid antigen tests should no longer be accepted.

“We have to delay the spread” of this “worrying” and “highly contagious” variant for as long as possible, Klaus Holetschek from Bavaria stressed in a statement.

The new Health Minister Karl Lauterbach welcomed the proposal.

“The longer we can postpone the moment when omicron has us under control, the better,” he said after the meeting, in which he also participated.

Regional ministers also called for the UK to be “quickly” included in the category of highly affected territories, which currently includes South Africa and seven other African countries.

This decision would constitute a de facto travel ban from the UK, except for German citizens.

Several European countries, such as France, have already taken measures to limit the entry of travelers from the United Kingdom.
