There is a stark divide between country and city, with more than 88% of Nevada’s active registered voters – and much of its political power – in the two most populous counties, which include the Las Vegas and Reno metropolitan areas.

In 2022, Democrats successfully defended their US Senate seat and lost the governorship. The six statewide elected constitutional officials are evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans.
