An attack carried out by a drone Ukrainian caused a fire this morning in one of the largest oil refineries in Russialocated in the Volgograd region.
The drone was shot down by anti-aircraft defenses, but its fall caused “a fire at the Volgograd Oil Refinery Plant,” reported Andrei Bocharov, governor of that region, on his Telegram channel.
The fire, which has already been controlled by emergency services, reached an area of 300 square meters.
“There are no victims,” the governor added.
According to the local press, the refinery, the largest supplier to oil producers in southern Russiawould be owned by the country’s main oil company, Lukoil.
In total, Russian anti-aircraft batteries shot down seven drones tonight in the Volgograd, Belgorod and Rostov regions, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The head of the Ukrainian Army, Valeri Zaluzhni, called this week in an article to prioritize the manufacture of drones in the face of the drastic reduction in supplies of heavy weapons by the West and the problems in mobilizing men of military age after almost two years of war with Russia.
