At least nine people have been injuredincluding minors, this Wednesday after the alleged corrosive acid release on an avenue in the Clapham district, in south London, the capital of the United Kingdom.

The London Fire Brigade has reported that it has provided “emergency” medical care for a woman and two childrenwhile five other people have been treated on Lessar Avenue, according to the British channel Sky News.

Likewise, three other police officers have been taken to the hospital after responding to the incident – which occurred after 7:30 p.m. (local time) – for minor injuries. The authorities have taken off a helicopter to search for the person responsible.

A man was seen fleeing the scene. “We are using London Metropolitan Police resources to arrest this individual and work is underway to determine what led to this terrible incident,” Detective Alexander Castle said in a statement from Lambeth Borough Police.
