The vast majority of sick people in intensive care services are not vaccinated.
Switzerland will tighten its anticovid measures starting Monday to try to contain the fifth wave of the epidemic and anticipate the arrival of the omicron variant, the federal government announced, severely limiting access for unvaccinated people and imposing a return to teleworking.
“Only vaccinated or cured people will now have access to the interior of restaurants, cultural establishments and sports or leisure facilities, as well as indoor events,” the federal council said in a statement.
It is what is called 2G in Switzerland, from the German genesen (cured) and geimpft (vaccinated).
On the eve of the Christmas holidays, usually with the family in the Alpine country, private gatherings will be limited to ten people, including children, if one of the diners aged 16 or over is not vaccinated or cured.
For federal authorities, these measures should contain infections of unvaccinated people “because they more easily transmit the virus and face complications more often when they are contaminated.”
The vast majority of sick people in intensive care services – both in Switzerland and in other parts of the world – are not vaccinated. (I)
