The US has donated 335 million doses of COVID vaccines to 110 countries

Washington has reiterated that these vaccines are delivered “without conditions.”

Until this Friday, the United States Government has donated more than 335 million doses of anti-COVID vaccines to 110 countries, a figure similar to that of the American population, reported a senior White House official to the AFP.

Responding to a request by President Joe Biden to speed up donations, the government has distributed at least 50 million doses in the last two weeks, the official also said, on condition of anonymity.

The US president said in September, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, that his country would donate more than 1 billion dose to poorer nations, promising to be the world’s “arsenal” in the fight against the pandemic.

Washington has reiterated that these vaccines are delivered “without conditions”, implying that this would not be the case for the doses distributed particularly by its great rival, China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, who denies doing “vaccine diplomacy,” recently promised 1 billion anti-COVID doses for Africa, in the form of donations or support for local production.

A few days ago, Nicaragua received 200,000 doses of the vaccine made by the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm, shortly after breaking relations with Taiwan. (I)
