The mexican beer Modelo Especial entered the index of the 500 most valuable brands in the world, as revealed this Wednesday by the consulting firm’s most recent Global 500 report. BrandFinance.

The label occupies position 455 on a list in which there are four other Latin American firms: the Mexican beer Corona Extra (position 207) and the Brazilian banks Itaú (263), Banco do Brasil (431) and Bradesco (477).

Special model “also achieved significant growth with an increase in 24% in its brand value up to US$5.2 billion”, as stated by Brand Finance in a statement.

While Corona Extra, the most valuable in the region, appreciated 40% up to US$ 10,400 million, surpassing Itaú.

In this regard, Laurence Newell, director for the Americas of Brand Finance, considered that “Beer brands of Mexican origin are recognized and appreciated throughout the world. Proof of this is the representation of Mexico in the Global 500 ranking of 2024.

He explained that the brand value of Modelo Especial “continues to grow, far exceeding pre-pandemic data, driven by the North American consumer.”

The combined valuation of the five Latin American brands on the list amounts to US$34 billion, which represented an increase of 9% compared to 2023.

Itaú had an annual drop of 4.5% in its value, and Banco do Brasil an annual increase of eleven%. The Brazilian financial institution Bradeco had a drop in its value of 2% as a brand.

Although it is the first time it has entered the global list of Brand Finance, Modelo Especial was also the second brand “stronger” of Latin America for its strength index of 78.9 out of 100 and a brand rating ‘AA+‘, factors that, in addition to value, measure consideration, reputation and perceptions of sustainability.

“Corona Extra remains the most valuable brand in Mexico and Latin America year after year”stressed the director for the Americas of Brand Finance.

The report highlighted that Claro, a Mexican telecommunications brand, present in this report since 2010, failed to remain on this list this year.
