The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboadeclared in a decree the existence of an “internal armed conflict” in the country and ordered the Armed Forces to carry out military actions to fight against organized crime groups who have been altering the order of the country in recent days.

The military intervention ordered by the president comes at a time when the country is under a state of emergencywith a night curfew decreed since last Monday.

At the same time, there have been riots in at least six prisons of the country in which several agents have been kidnapped. Despite this state of emergency, the explosion of vehicles, attacks with explosives, kidnapping of police officers and the distribution of pamphlets rejecting the transfer of prisoners from one prison to another have been recorded.

Besides, A group of hooded armed men forced their way into the ‘TC’ television channel on Tuesday., in the city of Guayaquil, and took its staff hostage live. In the live images, several hooded armed men were seen holding channel workers on the ground, demanding that they ask the police who had arrived at the scene live to leave. Later, several gunshots and people’s screams were heard while the transmission continued.

The television channel continued the live broadcast during which the hooded men ordered that no one leave the place. Subsequently, people entered shouting “police” and helped those who were still on the channel’s set. One of them, wounded, asked for urgent attention because he had unusual blood. The authorities have not yet reported on the situation on the channel, which about an hour after the incursion began, kept the signal open with the image of the set in darkness.

Given all this number of incidents, the president of Ecuador Daniel Noboa has affirmed the existence of an “internal armed conflict” and the order of action of the Ecuadorian Armed Forces.
