After three years suspended, Valparaíso recovers its end-of-year fireworks

Thousands of people will enjoy this Sunday one of the most famous pyrotechnic shows in Latin America: the fireworks of end of the year of Valparaisoon the central Chilean coast, which were suspended for three years.

The show, called New Year at Sea 2014, will last 18 minutes and will have 10 launch points and then there will be a musical show in the central Plaza Sotomayor, with artists such as Yasna Arancibia, Santa Feria and Sonora Barón.

The fires, organized by the Municipality, have been held uninterruptedly since the 1950s, with the exceptions of 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The first two times were suspended due to the covid-19 pandemic, which severely affected Valparaíso, located 110 kilometers from Santiago, while last year they had to be canceled due to the poor state of the fireworks.

There will also be fireworks in neighboring Viña del Mar and the National Tourism Service (Sernatur) expects at least one million tourists to arrive between both coastal towns.

For economic, environmental and security reasons, Chile will receive 2024 with few fireworks shows, unlike what happened years ago, when practically every city had its own show.

Santiago once again canceled this year the traditional fireworks at the Entel Tower, the iconic and central corporate building of a local telephone company.
