Aerolíneas Argentinas appoints Fabián Lombardo as its new president

The directory of Argentinian airlines This Tuesday, Fabián Lombardo was appointed as the new president of the state airline, reported the company.

Lombardo, who since 2019 was in charge of the Commercial Directorate, Planning and Route Management of Aerolíneas Argentinas, will replace Pablo Ceriani in the Presidency of the flag airline.

The appointment was made after the arrival of the libertarian Javier Milei to the Argentine Executive on December 10. During the election campaign, Milei proposed transferring ownership of the airline company to its workers.

According to Aerolíneas Argentinas in a statement, Lombardo, who in addition to being president was appointed general manager of the airline, “He has extensive experience in the commercial airline industry.”

He began his career professional at the Brazilian Varig, where he held multiple executive positions, including route management for South America and directions for Italy and the Middle East, Germany and Eastern Europe and Chile.

He also served as sales director at Gol Linhas Aereas and was representative for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay from Tap Air Portugal and Azul Linhas Aéreas.

In 2009 he joined Aerolíneas Argentinas as international sales manager, moving on to occupy the role of commercial area manager since 2013.
